Individual Psychotherapy
Becoming a parent and parenting a young child can evoke unexpected and complex emotions, which can be particularly difficult to manage given the sleep deprivation and lack of personal time that usually accompanies early parenthood. Often the lack of understanding friends or family, and the difficulty of socializing with an infant or young child, can exacerbate the situation.
Individual psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to talk about and reflect on your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a non-judgmental, supportive space. Whether the perinatal period has brought on emotional upheaval, or you are grappling with longer-term issues that may be surfacing in new ways, or you are just looking for time to make sense of your feelings, individual psychotherapy can be extremely helpful.
While most parents during this period have questions about parenting, they often are not exclusively looking for an approach that focuses on parenting. This is, of course, particularly true for individuals who are expecting or still in the process of trying to conceive. In individual therapy, our therapists work to support you in your goals as an individual, a parent and in your other roles and relationships.
