The Family Connections Training Center

The Family Connections Center offers a range of training opportunities for mental health providers, early childhood caregivers and teachers, and the general public. The approach we use is both developmentally-based and family-focused, incorporating the latest understanding of perinatal, infant, and early childhood mental health.

Our mission is to bring together people with an interest in Perinatal Mental Health and those interested in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, so that we may better integrate these two bodies of knowledge, and begin to approach families with both perspectives in mind. Doing so, requires contextualizing medical models within a developmental and relational framework.

We provide in-house trainings and trainings at organizations and schools.

Supervision

We provide reflective supervision individually or in group settings on a per session basis or in 4-12 week blocks. Recent evidence suggests that one of the strongest predictors of outcome in therapy, is the therapist's capacity to reflect on their patient's and their own mental states. This supervision provides a safe space for therapists or early childhood care providers to reflect on their thoughts, feelings and experiences, and learn to understand and answer their own questions. In addition to promoting deeper self-awareness, reflective supervision provides opportunities to expand your knowledge of the field and learn how to apply and integrate the fundamental principles of the field into your work with parents and children.

Remote Learning

If you are interested in remote trainings, supervision, or consultations, do not hesitate to contact us. We are able to work with you or your organization to provide real-time, web-based learning opportunities.
